About Axbridge Singers

The Axbridge Singers is a four-part, a capella community choir. Based in Axbridge, our members come from across the local area, from Cheddar and Draycott to Winscombe, Churchill and Charterhouse. We do not hold auditions, and members are not required to read music or have any previous experience: only enthusiasm and a willingness to 'have a go'.

We sing a wide variety of songs, from different parts of the world, different genres, and different eras.

All members are warmly invited to come for a drink at the Lamb Inn in the Square after rehearsals (once we have put all the chairs away!) and the choir also arranges occasional social get-togethers.

History

The choir was formed in February 2005, founded by former member Roger Parker. Beginning as a small living-room gathering, the choir quickly grew in size and for a number of years was kindly accommodated by Patricia and Robert Tallack at Compton House.

In 2008 the continued increase in membership led the choir to a further move, to our current home in St. John's Church, Axbridge Square.
